Apply for the award of your degree

Degrees at Chalmers
Chalmers awards different types of degrees, both professional degrees with different specialisations and general degrees in several main fields of study. The requirements for a degree are determined by the system of qualifications. The educational programmes are designed to lead to different degrees.

Apply for the award of your degree
Once you have completed your studies, you can apply for a degree. Your degree shows that you have completed a specific course of study or that you have studied a particular subject to a certain level. Often a degree is a prerequisite for further study or helpful when looking for a job. Chalmers diplomas are issued digitally from 1 April 2024 for degrees at Bachelor's and Master's level. Licentiates and doctoral certificates are issued digitally from the turn of the year 24/25.

Degree certificate and Diploma Supplement
The degree certificate shows and certifies which degree you have completed at Chalmers. All degree certificates are accompanied by an appendix, known as a Diploma Supplement (DS).

Verification of education and degrees
Your degree certificate is proof of your degree, but there will be times when an employer or another higher education institution will want to check that the certificate is genuine – they will want verification of your degree. This can be done in various ways. If you have a login to Ladok for students, you can allow them to verify your degree by sharing your degree with them or creating an official transcript of records. That applies for both digital and paper certificates. Sometimes they may have particular requirements as to how a copy of your paper certificate should be sent. Establish exactly how you need to verify your degree. Chalmers Servicecenter or the Office for Degrees can always verify your degree.
