When the study period/semester begins, you need to be registered for your courses. You register in Ladok during the registration period. When you register for your courses, you will have access to course websites in Canvas and can sign up for exams.

Mandatory course registration

  • Course registration means that you, as a student, must have registered for the course in Ladok yourself.
  • You need to register for each course you are going to take, each semester and each study period.
  • If you do not register, you risk being removed from the course and not being able to register for exams – it may also affect your eligibility for student finance or residence permit.
  • Having access to the course website in Canvas does not count as being registered for the course.

When and how do you register?

You register in Ladok for students. If you can't log in to Ladok to register/re-register, please contact the course registration email.

Why registration in Ladok is important

Registration activates other systems such as Canvas and affects what services you as a student get access to. If you have not registered on your courses in Ladok, this may have consequences.

Possible consequences may include:

  • not being able to actively participate in the course, labs etcetera

  • not getting access to Canvas

  • not being able to access your Chalmers account/cid

  • not being able to register for the exam

  • compensation from CSN might be reduced, alternatively that you become liable for repayment

  • losing the possibility of obtaining housing, if you have applied for this

  • not being granted a residence permit by the Swedish Migration Agency

This is how re-registration works

Course selection versus registration

Do you want to discontinue a course

  • If you have changed your mind and want to make changes to your study situation, you should talk to your study counsellor first – they can give you advice and support.

  • On the following page, you will find information on how to withdraw from a course.

  • Chalmers does not send a separate confirmation to CSN – what you see in Ladok is what they see.
  • If you encounter any problems, we recommend that you print out a registration certificate in Swedish or English from Ladok and send it by post or email to CSN.
